Fellowships & Research
Rresearch is a fantastic way to pursue your personal interests and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. There are a number of ways to conduct research and have it funded while you’re an undergrad.
The Program in Global Health Studies administers research fellowships for self-guided summer research projects. There are a number of other ways to get involved with a research project, whether assisting in a lab or designing your own project.
Research Under NU and International Faculty:
- Northwestern Office of Undergraduate Research
- Circumnavigators Travel-Study Grant: The winner will receive a $9,000 award to travel to at least five different countries (excluding the U.S. and Canada) on at least three different continents during one summer to research a topic of her/his choosing.
- Undergraduate Research Assistant Program (URAP) This program offers students the opportunity to assist faculty members with their research.
- Crown Family Middle East Research Travel Grant This grant funds travel for research projects in the Middle East. Preference is given to applicants who will collaborate with institutions and colleagues in the region.
- Keyman Fund for Turkish Studies and Turkish Language: The Keyman Modern Turkish Studies Program will provide limited funding for research projects on Turkey or for the study of Turkish language in Turkey.
- The Global Research Portal is a database showcasing Northwestern’s opportunities for international travel and learning, research experiences, fellowships and much more. You can also view the global and research interests of the University’s faculty and administrators.
