Direct Enroll
DIRECT ENROLL PROGRAMS
In addition to the Northwestern and Affiliated public health programs, GHS students can choose to enroll in a university abroad as their public health-related, international experience. Students take classes directly with local and international students at Northwestern’s partner institutions. Examples of previously approved direct enroll options, include:
- Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile
- University College Cork (Ireland)
- University of Edinburgh (Scotland)
- Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand)
Students typically enroll in two global or public health courses, as well as two courses related to the context of the program’s region, such as politics, history, culture, or language. Courses should expand upon/supplement core GHS curriculum. Students are encouraged to seek out opportunities to engage in field experience, research, and/or site visits while abroad.
Approved programs transfer, at most, two elective credits towards the GHS major or minor. It may also be possible to earn distro or additional major/minor credit from courses taken abroad.
